Sometimes, we have patients come in with minor cataract problems, which haven’t progressed enough to cause vision loss and don’t qualify for cataract surgery based on Medicare guidelines. In these instances, we typically recommend doing a refractive lens exchange. Refractive lens exchange involves replacing your natural eye lens with a multifocal implant, which corrects vision like LASIK and prevents the need for cataract surgery later on in life.
