Jocelyn Kim-Dunlavey grew up in Southern California and studied Business Economics at UCLA. The summer before her senior year Dr. Dunlavey went to Honduras to help coffee farmers start a cooperative to help improve their lives. During the trip, she also helped with medical brigades and realized that she could achieve a more immediate impact through medicine. This led her Columbia University to take pre-medical courses.
Dr. Dunlavey went to University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where she volunteered with Guerilla Eye Services, which provided comprehensive eye care to patients by bringing equipment to patients in a van. Dr. Dunlavey fell in love with Ophthalmology because of the ability to diagnose most issues in the clinic and provide relief to patients, improving quality of life.
Dr. Dunlavey did her Ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University where she worked with different populations at various sites including Walter Reed National Medical Center and Andrews Air Force Base.
Dr. Dunlavey came to Griffin & Reed Eye because of her passionate about delivering the best care to patients. She also speaks medical Spanish.
